Sally's husband surprised her with a trip to NYC last weekend with only 96 hours notice! Keeping everything a secret was no small feat as a) many of Sally's friends, family and co-workers knew about it and b) Sally is really nosy AND always talks about how much she loves surprises. After taking what can only be described as a boatload of photos, here are some highlights...
Day 1 began with a deluxe breakfast (complete with Levain Bakery delights!) at her Uncle's apartment on the upper west side, followed by a massive walk in Central Park in an effort to stave off the exhaustion that often accompanies a red-eye flight. (As an aside, Sally generally rocks ear plugs, a neck pillow and an eyemask while on red-eyes, but doesn't usually sleep that well, much to the confusion of her husband who assumes that, given her appearance, she is completely konked out for the duration of the flight)

An adorable elderly couple in a horse-drawn carriage just begged for a photo!
Somehow, this happened
(completely un-posed if you can believe it!)
Aaaaand the walk ended when Sally received a particular
birthday gift from a Central Park pigeon

When cocktail hour rolled around, it was off to the
fancy shmancy Gramercy Park Hotel

where Sally and her Uncle attempted a cross arm + drink toast,
which did't really work due to Sally's praying mantis arm,
so they just gobbled down their (large, expensive and delicious) martinis!
After that, it was Empellon for dinner with Nathan Vincent (another surprise!), hysterical conversation and some seriously legit guacamole.
Days 2 + 3 tomorrow!
Love the recap! Can't wait for tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteYou know there will be at least one photo of you (no indoor bridges, I promise): )
