Spring Cleaning

Now that we're fully in the throes of Spring, it's time to tackle the issue of spring cleaning.  Specky has quite the task on her hands: 2 little ones (and allllll of their stuff) plus a house move on the horizon.  Sally is a nerd who looks forward to spring cleaning every year and plans to deep-clean the kitchen, purge some filing cabinet contents and hire a house cleaner for ongoing maintenance.  Does anyone else feel strange about hiring someone to clean your house?  Is it odd to have people clean your home while you're out?  This is new territory for Sally and she's feeling a bit uneasy about it, but hopes it will pay off in the end.

Here are some links to (hopefully) motivate us all!

  1. having a cleaning lady is the best thing ever. it does feel weird at first but you'll come home to a super clean house and never want to go back. several years ago my roommate and i shared the cost of one and it was the best decision. if i ever live with someone again it'll be part of the deal - makes cohabitation so much easier. do it and enjoy! but don't settle either, - i've had a lady clean my place twice recently, and i just didn't feel it was worth it. she didn't do as well as what i was used to and i felt it wasn't more than i could have done with a few hours of cleaning. definitely make sure you are happy with where your money is going, but i bet you will be!

    1. Thanks for weighing in, Lainie! Part of me feels like, holy heck, I'm a grown woman and I should be able to clean up after myself...the other part of me reallllly doesn't want to pick up the duster ; ). Hiring a cleaning person feels so fancy and luxurious, but I know that it will likely become something I grow accustomed to. I'll let you know what I end up doing!
